JAGATI Foundation Promotes Nutrition and Education in Koraput
Koraput, April 15: In a commendable initiative aimed at improving community health and child education, JAGATI Foundation organized a kitchen garden seed distribution and awareness programme at Jalaput Gram Panchayat under Nandapur Block of Koraput district on Tuesday.
The programme focused on promoting nutrition-sensitive agriculture and healthy food consumption among rural households. Kitchen garden seeds were distributed to the parents of children attending the local Anganwadi centre, encouraging them to grow fresh vegetables at home to enhance dietary diversity and nutritional intake. An awareness session on healthy and nutritious food habits was conducted as part of the programme. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Suku Sisa, Project Coordinator, Jalaput, emphasized the importance of balanced diets, particularly for children and women. He motivated parents to incorporate locally available, nutritious foods into daily meals and highlighted the role of kitchen gardens in ensuring year-round access to fresh produce.

Local residents appreciated the initiative, stating that such programmes not only improve nutritional awareness but also contribute to the overall development of children. Anganwadi workers expressed gratitude to the Foundation for supporting both health and education interventions at the grassroots level.
Mr. Sisa also interacted with Anganwadi children, encouraging them to develop healthy eating habits from an early age. The session saw active participation from parents, Anganwadi workers, and community members, reflecting growing awareness about nutrition and health.
In addition to the nutrition initiative, JAGATI Foundation also distributed slates and study materials to the children attending the Anganwadi centre. This effort aimed to support early childhood education and create a conducive learning environment for young learners in the village.

The programme is part of JAGATI Foundation’s broader commitment to strengthening community health, nutrition, and livelihoods through sustainable and participatory approaches. The Foundation continues to work closely with rural communities to promote inclusive development and long-term well-being.
